Description:
I. In response to the trend of the times, to enrich the diverse learning and digital literacy of senior high schools (hereinafter referred to as "schools"), starting from the 113 academic year, the Ministry will collaborate with universities to offer diverse elective courses through remote online courses. The course resources will be uploaded to the YouTube platform to promote collaborative learning among students, and to provide teachers with opportunities for professional development in various subject areas, which they can then apply to their curriculum and lesson plan design. This will allow students to learn without geographical limitations, explore knowledge in different fields through the courses, stimulate their passion for learning, and enhance their self-directed learning abilities.
II. Building upon the above, the Ministry will collaborate with the Taiwan Association of College and University AI Curriculum Alliance (TAICA) of National Tsing Hua University in the 115 academic year to offer remote online courses on "Online AI Courses for Senior High Schools." Each course is worth 2 credits and will be taught by Professor Gan Zhen-rong from Tunghai University. The course information is as follows:
(1) The first-semester course is "AI Ethics I: From Ethical Critical Thinking Tools to Fairness."
(2) The second-semester course is "AI Ethics II: Safety, Privacy, and Societal Impact."
III. In accordance with Article 5 of the "Implementation Guidelines for Remote Digital Teaching of Cross-School Elective or Advanced Placement Courses in Senior High Schools," participating schools must assign one cooperating teacher to be responsible for maintaining classroom order, assisting with course progress, troubleshooting equipment or system issues, responding to on-site emergencies, and supporting learning assessments and course implementation. This teacher will also coordinate with the actual instructor to manage the certification of course learning outcomes in students' learning portfolios.
IV. To provide students in remote and non-mountainous/non-urban schools with diverse educational resources and equal learning opportunities, it is recommended that these schools participate in at least one course to ensure students' rights to learn in various fields, and to enhance their motivation and competitiveness.
V. The Ministry will hold an online briefing session for the aforementioned topic on April 30, 115 (Thursday) at 3:00 PM. Schools interested in offering the course on campus are required to attend. The Ministry and the university professors will explain the details of course offerings. Due to limited capacity in the online session, each school is limited to one account for participation. The video conference link is: https://meet.google.com/wfw-srxr-ycy.
VI. The related materials for this briefing session can also be downloaded from the Ministry of Education's "Senior High School Digital Learning Promotion Office and Digital Learning Resource Center - Announcements" (Link: https://vtedu.k12ea.gov.tw/nss/s/DLRC/index).
VII. In conclusion, please complete and submit the "Intent Survey for Senior High School Online AI Courses Offered in Collaboration with TAICA in the 115 Academic Year" by May 22, 115 (Friday). After obtaining the necessary approvals, please send it via email to the contact person at e-2466@mail.k12ea.gov.tw without a formal cover letter.
VIII. Attached are the implementation plan for the briefing session, cooperation matters for participating schools, the briefing session presentation, course outlines, and the intent survey for the 115 academic year, each in one copy. Please plan for the selection of this course as early as possible to facilitate the progress of course affairs after the start of the semester.
